    Ipswich out-manned Northwestern 64-34 in Lake Region Conference boys high school basketball action last Tuesday, Jan. 2 in the Tiger Den. The Tigers had more than doubled the Wildcats 17-4 in the first quarter and would then lead 35-17 at halftime. Ipswich led 48-27 with a quarter to play and then coasted to a victory.     The North Central Thunder basketball teams traveled to Timber Lake for a doubleheader on Dec. 28. The girls got a close 39-37 victory. The Panther boys stopped the Thunder boys 69-26.     Waubay-Summit visited the Tiger Den last Tuesday and escaped with a sweep of their high school basketball twinbill vs. Ipswich.     The North Central varsity basketball girls were defeated 43-36 in a trip into Strasburg, N.D. on December 18 vs. Strasburg-Zeeland. The hosts indeed had narrowly trailed 10-9 after a quarter, but were able to grab a 23-15 halftime lead. And they then tacked on a 36-26 edge with a quarter to play.     The North Central Thunder were defeated 60-38 by South Border (Wiskek/Ashley, N.D.) in boys varsity basketball action on December 19 there.     The Ipswich Knights of Columbus had their annual free throw competition on Dec. 12 in the Ipswich School Auxiliary Gym.
