Ipswich raced out to a 67-20 boys' varsity win over McIntosh in a battle of the Tigers last Friday during the Sacred Hoops contest at the Srode Center in Aberdeen. It was a huge win for new head coach Stewart Bohle because it was his 200th career win as a coach (all in girls' basketball) including a pair of state titles. Ipswich opened its 2022-23 girls' high school basketball campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 6 on the road vs. Sully Buttes. Details of that non-conference game weren't available as of our newspaper deadline. Ipswich Tiger Tyler Hettich was chosen as a member of the Class 9AA all-state football team. Hettich was chosen for the position of athlete. The Nike Cross Regionals took place at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls on Sunday, November 13. The competition, in the Heartland, was a seven-state event, including Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. There were over 4,000 registrants, making this the largest regional competition in Sioux Falls history. There were five sections in the Boy’s Open Invitational, with a total of 1590 runners. The Ipswich varsity volleyball season came to an end with a disappointing 3-2 Region 6B bracket championship loss to Faulkton at Faulkton on Thursday, Nov. 3. Turner Thorson, an IHS senior, was one of three Tiger boys at the recent state cross country meet in Huron. Turner's time was incorrectly printed as 18:50.58. The correct time was 18:15.58.
