Wondering if you can donate blood to save lives:

• I am taking medication? Yes - most medications are acceptable.

• I have recently had surgery? Yes - If you are completely healed and released from doctor’s care.

• I had a tattoo or piercing? Yes - In certain cases, if applied in a licensed establishment in South Dakota (as well as Minn., N.D., Iowa and Neb.).

• I have diabetes? Yes - If you are regulating it, even with insulin.

• I have had cancer? Yes - Most types are acceptable if it has been one year since last treatment and no known recurrence.

To save time, donors can now fill out their Fast Track Ticket online at http://www.unitedbloodservices.org the day of their donation. To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (certain ages need a minor donor permit) and be in good health.
