County 4-Hers earn ribbons, honors

Edmunds County 4-H members displayed their 2018 projects and animals at the 4-H Achievement Days held August 1-3 in Ipswich.

Crowned 4-H royalty were Queen Josie Sylte, daughter of Chris and Heidi Sylte, Cloverbud Princess Ava Bauer, daughter of Shane and Jennifer Bauer, and Cloverbud Prince Grayson Beyers, son of Doug and Amber Beyers.

The Secret Alumni was revealed on Friday evening as Deanne Hoyle. The first correct guess came from William Hoyle.

Eight Pre 4-H and 4-H members entered the Pet Show on Thursday evening. They were interviewed by Steph Jung and received ribbons and certificates. Winners were Most Cuddly – Isabella and Addison Galbraith's Bunny, Cutest Name – Sydney Holmes's dog, Best Looking – Treyton Hutson's Rock, Best Dynamic Duo – Jacob Volk's Rabbit and Cat, Sharpest Claws – Grayson Beyer's Cat, Fanciest Collar – Ben Hoyle's Dog, Longest Tail – Weston Weisser's Cat.

The Pre 4-H exhibiting livestock on Friday evening were: Sydney Holmes – Bottle Calf and Ben Hoyle – Goat.

The Horse Show and Play Day was held on Wednesday evening at the Trail Days Arena. Winners were: Stock Seat Equitation – Jacey Rossow and Quincy Olivier; Egg and Spoon Race – Jacey Rossow and Jailey Hutson; Barrel Racing – Jacey Rossow and Quincy Olivier; Flag Race – Jacey Rossow and Quincy Olivier; Ribbon Race – Jacey Rossow and Tristen Geditz and Jailey Hutson and Quincy Olivier; Boot Scramble – Jacey Rossow and Quincy Olivier; Pole Bending – Jacey Rossow and Jailey Hutson; Key Hole Race - Jacey Rossow and Quincy Olivier; Musical Hoops – Tristin Geditz and Quincy Olivier; Koolaid Race –Tristan Geditz and Quincy Olivier. Other participants were Jalyssa Hutson and Jacob Volk.

Thursday started off with the entering and judging of poultry exhibits followed by the judging of static exhibits. In the afternoon was the cat and rabbit show.
