Ipswich High School's homecoming celebration for 2018 is next week, Sept. 17-21. The theme is "Entertainment."
Coronation is Monday, Sept. 17 in the school theatre at 7 p.m. Royalty candidates are seniors Bailey Hammrich, Kamryn Heinz, Taylor Maurer, Aleah Steger, Daniel Braun, Ben Kulesa, Riley Nehlich, and Jacob Nierman.
The annual "Burning of the I" will follow coronation Monday evening at the skating rink.
The Gala Day parade is Friday, Sept. 21. Contact Shana Gohl at the school, 426-6571 to register for the parade.
The parade route will remain the same as last year. The parade entries will line up on First Avenue by Holy Cross Church. The route will begin at First Avenue and Fifth Street, down Alma Avenue, turning on Main Street heading north, turning again on Fourth Avenue. Elementary students will leave the parade along 4th Avenue. Floats may continue up to Ipswich Care and Rehabilitation.
Parade entries will be judged in four divisions: preschool - fifth grade, middle school/high school, business and organizations.
Competitions throughout the week will earn points for the classes. Culminating with the winning class being treated to a party.
Special days are planned all next week:
• Monday - Music Monday: dress as your favorite musical genre, musician or group
• Tuesday - Netflix and Binge Watch: dress as your favorite actor/actress, movie/TV character or wear your pajamas
• Wednesday - Video Game Day: dress as your favorite video game character
• Thursday - Famous Duos in Entertainment: dress as a famous duo - Batman and Robin, Thelma and Louise, SpongeBob and Patrick, etc.
• Friday - Tiger Pride: Show your Tiger Pride and wear orange and black
Homecoming Week Games
The Ipswich Lady Tigers volleyball team will host two home matches next week: Potter County on Tuesday and Langford Area on Thursday.
The Tigers football team will battle the Warner Monarchs at 7 p.m. Friday evening here.
