The membership of the Ipsodak Chapter of the National Honor Society at Ipswich High School now stands at 22 after the induction of seven new members at last Tuesday's Induction Ceremony in the Ipswich School Theater.
Alphabetically the new members are Grace Beyers, Mckenzie Evans, Tessa Kilber, Jordan Richardt, Jayna Sanborn, Lexi Stafford and Avery Sylte. They join Olivia Gohl, Abigail Grabowska, Jasmine Green, Bailey Hammrich, Kamryn Heinz, Kari Kanable, Michael Kraft, Benjamin Kulesa, Sydney Loken, Taylor Maurer, Jacob Nierman, Nathan Preszler, Aleah Steger, Ashlee Thorson and Myra Toennies.
Kamryn Heinz is the president this year and she welcomed the inductees and their families and explained the history of the NHS organization. There were also video presentations of the local NS activities and profiles each of the members, both the current and new. Four of those carry-over members spoke on the four required attributes to be nominated into the NHS. Aleah Steger spoke on Scholarship, Abigail Grabowska spoke on Service, Benjamin Kulesa spoke on Leadership and Jacob Nierman spoke on Character.
Ipswich Principal Dan Knust administered the Candlelight Induction Ceremony for the new inductees, including the NHS Pledge, Presentation of Certificates and the Signing of the Registry.
Ipswich Superintendent Trent Osborne was the main speaker of the evening, elaborating on the four attributes for membership in the NHS. He said that this achievement is a huge honor and that recognition is just the icing on the cake. "Take small positive actions every day and they will all add up," he said.
The 2018-19 NHS advisors at IHS are Carol Lacher and Kaye Wickard, who gave some closing remarks. She sees the NHS members as multi-talented individuals and attributes a lot of that to their parents and home environment.
