Lady Tigers get VB win on the road

Getting ready for its huge LRC battle with Faulkton, the Ipswich volleyball team won a 3-1 non-league road decision at Hitchcock-Tulare last Thursday.

In that one, the Lady Tigers got off to a great start with back to back wins, 25-17 and 25-19, respectively. But the hosts weren't quite ready to turn off the gym lights quite yet and regrouped for a hard-fought 26-24 win. But Ipswich sealed the deal with another close outcome of 25-23.

The visitors from Ipswich were 209-221 in hitting with 49 kills. Abby Grabowska was 89-94 at the net, including 20 kills and Lindsey Grabowska obtained 11 kills among her 25 total hits in 28 tries. Avery Sylte was next with nine kills and 24-25 overall. The hosts countered with a 161-180 net attack with 45 kills.

Ipswich obtained 228 sets and included 49 assists. Halle Heinz predominately handled those duties with 82 sets without a miss and 23 assists.

At the service line, Ipswich finished 85-89 with 10 aces and Hitchcock-Tulare, 58-60 with four aces. Ipswich utilized a balanced effort, led by Lindsey Grabowska, 18-20 with two aces and Heinz, 17-18 with three aces, followed by Abby Grabowska at 15-16 with four aces.

Ipswich totaled 160 digs, led by Lindsey Grabowska with 50 and Chesney Olivier with 37. Ipswich added six solo blocks and five assisted blocks, paced by Abby Grabowska with three solos and two assists.
