Olivia (Livi) Singer

Olivia (Livi) Singer, almost 84, of Renton, Wash. went to her Eternal Home on November 14, 2018. Olivia was born and lived most of her life in South Dakota.

Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2018 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Kent, Wash. with Pastor Kirk Hulvey officiating.

Olivia was born on a farm near Eureka on Nov 25, 1934 to Ella and Reinhold Lindemann. She enjoyed her horse Jenny and swimming in the lake on the farm. She attended school in a one room schoolhouse near their farm. She enjoyed school so much that she became a teacher. She obtained her teaching degree from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen. She taught Elementary Education, Special Education, and Remedial Reading for over 30 years. Children brought much joy to Livi.

She was active in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ipswich and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. She led the "Moon Maids" 4H club for many years in Ipswich, teaching children how to garden, sew, and many other life skills. Livi was very happy in her garden and could be found there often.

Olivia married the local barber, Walter Singer, in the Hoffnungstal Lutheran Church near Eureka on June 12, 1955. She was blessed with three children Neala (Ngiciri Ngugi), Nyla (Brian Johnson), and Dr. Narin Singer. Livi loved being a Grandma to grandchildren Daniel, Anthony (Melissa Stuckey), and Briana Johnson, and Kristy and Will Ngugi, and one great-granddaughter Allison Johnson. Livi and Walter celebrated 63 loving years of marriage.

Olivia is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter and two sisters Vivian (Tom Merkel) of Washburn, N.D. and Lynn (Ken Larsen) of Pierre.
