Ipswich/Leola/Bowdle attended a JV wrestling event in Faulkton on Monday.
The actual varsity schedule begins with a December 1 trip to a Stanley County meet.
There will be a Jan. 10, 2019 home quad. in Ipswich, plus the LRC meet hosted at Leola on Jan. 31. (And there will be a JV/MS tourney-style meet on Jan. 28 here.)
Everything will progress towards the post-season with a trip to the State B, the ultimate reward scheduled for Rapid City on Feb. 22-23.
Junior Carter Heinz attended the State B last year, so will be one of the leaders of the young team. Nick Brandner will definitely be hoping to also lead the way as the lone senior.
The varsity numbers have improved to 12 total with three additional sixth grade middle-schoolers not eligible for varsity play.
The head coach is Todd Naasz, assisted by Austin Manzey.
The entire roster includes senior Nick Brandner; junior Carter Heinz; freshman Zach Geditz; eighth graders Tanner Frickson, Parker Gill, Matthew McCloud, Lucas Rowland, Brady Unser, Darrel Yost; seventh graders Austin Davies, Adam Kanable, Kadyn Weisser; and sixth graders Marcus Hofer, Justin Rohrbach, and Bohdi Wilcox.
