Ipswich was able to play one of its scheduled boys' basketball games last week, a road trip to Sully Buttes on Friday, won by the host team 55-30. They won each of the individual quarters, 9-6, 15-6 and 17-5, respectively to gradually outdistance themselves from the Tigers.
Three reasons were Grant Johnson, Nick Wittler and Cameron Ogle. Johnson and Wittler each scored 15 points and Ogle added 14 counters. Indeed only two other Chargers were able to score.
Ipswich countered with a 15-point scorer of its own, Maxwell Geditz, including a trey and five of his team's 10 assists. But further scoring tailed off to four points from Reece Moehlenbrink and three points by Daniel Braun, while Will Kadlec, Jacob Nierman, Ethan Gilbert and Jordan Bjordal scored two points apiece.
The home team made 23 floor shots, including four treys and went 5-11 in free throw opportunities. Ipswich netted 13 floor shots, including that lone trey and was 3-8 at the charity stripe.
The rebounding outcome saw Ipswich narrowly trail 34-29, led by Braun with three retrieves. Ipswich sustained 16 turnovers; SB, 10.
Ipswich, 8-8, is next scheduled to play Potter County in Gettysburg in a girls/boys twinbill on February 14. The Tiger boys will then meet Wilmot at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday during a classic in Warner.
