Ipswich hosted a welcome home and awards presentation for the IHS Lady Tiger basketball team in the School Theatre on Sunday, March 10 at 7 p.m.
Coach Brian Hogie introduced the players and summed up his thoughts on the tourney and the whole year. The year including multiple adversities that the team dealt with, including injuries.
Hogie called this a special team, especially the seven seniors, because of their attributes and care for their teammates both on and off the court. He talked about their preparations for this year after only reaching the Round of 16 last year, losing to Warner in a tight battle in Groton.
He thanked everybody who made this dream a reality including all the fan base who turned out during the season and post-season drama. Especially those who turned out for the welcome celebration.
Kamryn Heinz, one of those seven seniors, spoke on behalf of her classmates and teammates. She said some of her classmates have been playing together for 14 years. She also thanked the crowd for their support, especially during the tourneys, including the State B opening night vs. C-S. Kamryn was named to the All-Tourney Team.
Hogie announced some of the post-season awards and school records, culminating with co-MVP awards for both Kamryn and her sister Halle Heinz, an IHS sophomore.
