Trail Days 2019 parade to salute volunteers

The Trail Days parade committee has chosen the theme for the 2019 parade - "A salute to the volunteer". The parade will be held on Saturday morning, June 8, 2019.

They plan to honor all of the clubs and businesses that volunteer numerous hours to help make this area the great place it is.

They have chosen Corinne Jameson this year's Parade Marshall.

Corinne graduated from McIntosh High School and Northern State Teachers College (NSU) in Aberdeen. In 1976, Jameson came to Ipswich to work in Activities at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Following that, she was employed at Ipswich Public School, Aberdeen American News, TSB, and the Ipswich City Office, as well as having a private piano studio.

Throughout the years, Jameson has been involved in community volunteer activities, including Ipswich Blood Drives, American Legion and Auxiliary projects and programs and Twentieth Century Club projects. She has been a church organist for 45 years, with 38 of those years in Ipswich. Jameson was the piano accompanist for Holy Cross and Ipswich Public Schools for 30 years. She is a past member of the JW Parmley Historical Home Society and Tiger Post Boards, as well as a Friend of 4-H.

In 2001, Jameson received the Ipswich Betterment Award. On behalf of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota, then-Gov. Mike Rounds presented her with the 2006 Community Service Award for the State of South Dakota.

Jameson said, "It's been my wonderful privilege to live in Ipswich and work alongside faithful and dedicated volunteers. I am just one of many local volunteers who work to make Ipswich a better place. They are all my heroes. If I were to choose my favorite volunteer activity, it would be playing the piano for Ipswich kids. They are the best!"
