The time is nearly here for fun and great music - Trail Days 2019.
The highlight of the weekend is the Saturday evening activities. Bulls & Broncs begins at 4 p.m. at the Trail Days Complex. Frankie Ballard will entertain the crowd in concert at 8 p.m. Jacked Up will be the opening act. The concert will be followed by an After-Party with Jacked Up at the Trail Days Complex.
Ballard, a country-blues rocker, originally from Michigan, is now based in Nashville. He is a singer/songwriter for his country-rock anthems. He has several #1 country hits including Sunshine & Whiskey, Helluva Life and Young & Crazy.
He has toured with Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Big and Rich and Bob Seger, to name a few. He recently toured in Australia and Japan.
Ballard has his own brand of American music - rock and roll, country stories, country lyrics and country songs. Add in blues swagger and blues guitar playing.
Jacked Up is a high energy country/pop/rock band from Fargo, N.D.
Several organizations are planning activities for the weekend.
FRIDAY
A 18-hole golf scramble will start at noon at Split Rock Country Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. for the tournament, sponsored by the Ipswich Athletic Booster Club. A Bean Bag Tourney will follow.
The Wily Wizards are hosting the "Amazing Race" beginning at 6 p.m. at the 4-H Building. Teams can walk, run or bike to locations to complete tasks.
SATURDAY
Saturday, June 8 will be a full day of activities.
The Trail Days 5K Run/Walk begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Ipswich Community Fitness Center, which is sponsoring the event.
Arts in the Park will start at 10 a.m. with set up at 8 a.m. At presstime, there are 10 vendors in the Library Park.
A Parade is being planned on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. This year's theme is "A Salute to Volunteers". For more information or to enter the parade contact Patty Kadlec. She can be contacted at 426-6576 or rkadlec@valleytel. net .
The parade will set up on 7th St. at Kadlec Sales. The entries will travel by the Ipswich Care and Rehabilitation center on Bloemendaal Ave. then by the Arch until First Street then up Main Street, ending on 4th Street.
Many activities are planned after the parade.
The Trail Days Car Show will set up on the parking lot of the Agtegra Cooperative office on Highway 12 after the parade. Contact Lester Forkel, 605-216-4977, for more information. Refreshments will be available from the Ipswich Lions.
The Ipswich United Church of Christ will serve lunch on Saturday, June 8 in the fellowship hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Their menu will include roast beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and ice cream floats.
The Flower and Garden Club will again have a Pie Social after the parade on Saturday in the Fitness Center. The funds raised are used to maintain Ipswich's historical Pioneer Village.
The Parmley Museum and Land Office will have an open house at the Main Street location until 2 p.m.
The Ipswich Library will be open until 6 p.m. to allow you to view their Art Expo.
For the Kids
The First Baptist Church on Main Street will have free inflatables for kids beginning at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Pony Rides will be available at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The rides can be found at Main Street and 2nd Ave. C&L Storage are sponsoring the rides. There is a charge.
Oban Construction is sponsoring free Face Painting for kids beginning at 10 a.m. in the park.
A Kids' Tractor Pull begins after the parade for youth and toddlers in front of the Tiger Post.
SUNDAY
A Cowboy Church Service is planned at 9:30 a.m. at the Trail Days arena.
