The summer dance students of Ashley Geist-Cusick will present a free recital for the public on Sunday, August 25 at 7:30 pm in the Ipswich High School Theater.
The recital will feature students from Ipswich, Roscoe, Hosmer, Bowdle, Eureka, Hoven, and Selby. Students performing range in age from three to sixteen years.
Geist-Cusick says, “Our recital is a celebration of the work, focus, and fun that students experience each week in class. It is an honor to bring this creative opportunity to the surrounding areas. I look forward each year, to watching the students perform for their families, friends, and communities.”
This year’s show marks the program’s eleventh year. Most dancers featured on stage only receive dance instruction during the summer season. “Both new and returning students are excited to perform what they’ve been working on in their classes this summer,' Geist-Cusick said. Classes begin in early June and finish with an end of summer recital in late August. While a few students take dance classes during the school year, for most, this is a once a year opportunity.
The public is invited to attend the performance on Sunday, August 25. Admission is free and doors open to the public at 7 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken to defray costs related to the summer dance program.
