THIEF IS CAPTURED AND JAILED HERE

Nick Russel is lodged in the County jail charged with stealing $330.00 and a bay horse from Wilhelm Harris. The theft was committed last Thursday.

Russel worked for Harris and while he was absent from home took the $330 which was in $10 and $20 bills and the bay horse. He started east.

Harris returned home, discovered the horse and the money gone. He notified Sheriff Schumacher and a general call was put on all telephone lines.

Mrs. Byron Jones saw the man pass by and told her husband upon his return home. He set forth to find the criminal. Russel had abandoned the horse and was walking. Jones located the man along the road, offered him a lift, telling him he was enroute to Aberdeen. Instead, he stopped in Ipswich and turned him over to the sheriff.

Russel plead guilty, was placed in jail and will be taken to Faulkton to appear before Judge Bottum. All the money was recovered.
