School welcomes back two staff members

Ipswich School students were back to school on August 21.

The school has two new teachers, both may look familiar. Their profiles follow:

Carolyn Burgod

Teaching position: Part-time Librarian

Family and Background: Daughter Courtney. SDSU graduate

Teaching experience: Over 35 years

This year I'm looking forward to: seeing all the students and helping them pick out books. Hopefully to instill a love of reading.

In my spare time I like to: read, bake, garden., cross-stitch, knit, watch the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Brittney Phillips

Teaching position: Third Grade, Title Reading and Math and Tiger Academy

Family and Background: I am originally from Frederick and grew up on a farm near there. Currently, my husband, Shane and I live at Mina Lake with our three children. We have twins who just started kindergarten and a three-year old.

Teaching experience: I graduated from Black Hills State with a degree in elementary education. After that I taught two years of fifth grade in Sturgis. From there we moved to Sundance, Wyo., where I taught second grade for five years. I worked as a part-time reading specialist in Ipswich last year!

This year I'm looking forward to: helping the students in Ipswich learn and grow and coaching middle school girls basketball.

In my spare time I like to: boat, go for bike rides, golf and read!
