Lady Tigers faced new sports cooperative in Roscoe

Ipswich edged North Central in a girls' high school volleyball match on Monday evening in Roscoe. The Lady Tigers narrowly won the first set 25-23, then the second set 25-14. But the hosts regrouped for a 25-18 victory in set three to claw back into contention. But Ipswich sealed the verdict with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.

Ipswich utilized a 102 to 52 hitting advantage that included a 43-17 kills lead. For the Lady Tigers, Avery Sylte went 30-37 with 10 kills and Halle Heinz, 15-18 with nine kills. The hosts were led by Krystal Geier, 20-21, with six kills.

In serving, Ipswich also compiled a narrow 80 to 72 edge that included a 10-1 ace lead. Lindsey Grabowska paced Ipswich with a 20-21, five-ace evening, followed by Bailey Pitz, 19-19,2. The Thunder were led by Jessie Lux who finished 16-16 at the line.

The 82-88, five-assists setting chores for the Thunder were led by Sam Lux with her 33-36 evening. Ipswich went 101-102 in that department with 31 assists, led by Heinz 60-61 with 20 assists and Pitz, 41-41 with 11 assists.

Defensively, Ipswich recorded 98 digs, led by Chesney Olivier with 22 and Sylte with 20. The team added six solo blocks and 14 assists. Paige Mehlberg led that effort with three of each and Sylte added two of each. Meanwhile, North Central came up with 27 digs, led by Jessie Lux with seven. Hope Hoerner featured four blocks.

Ipswich will next travel to Faulkton Area next Tuesday for a huge league battle. Both teams have also been trading places at the top of the regional leader-board.
