Ipswich won a decisive 3-0 Lake Region Conference Senior Night high school volleyball clash over the Leola/Frederick Titans last Friday evening in Ipswich. The set scores were 25-10, 25-17,25-14 -- all favoring the home team.
Ipswich scored the last three points of its opening set, sandwiching a pair of points around an Avery Sylte kill. Paige Mehlberg then came up with a kill to close out set two and Sylte added yet another kill for the set and match points to clinch the victory.
The Lady Tigers featured an overall 81-52 hitting edge that included a 34-10 kills lead. Sylte finished her productive evening with a 14-16, ten-kills effort and Halle Heinz was next with a 13-14 night with eight of them kills.
Also credit Heinz with 23 of her team's 73 sets with 12 assists and Bailey Pitz distributed a team-high 32 sets with nine assists. Altogether Ipswich dished out 32 assists.
The Lady Tigers were quite efficient at the serving lines, led by Pitz, a perfect 23 with two aces and Heinz with a 12-13 one-ace effort. Ipswich finished 72-76 with four aces.
Defensively, Ipswich came away with a total of 73 digs, led by Chesney Olivier with 26 and Pitz with 12. Mehlberg added a solo block and a pair of assisted blocks.
The victory improved Ipswich's now completed league record to 3-4.
