Mayor’s Proclamation

In keeping with the proclamations of the President of the United States and of the Governor of the State appointing Friday August 10th as a day of mourning and prayer for our beloved late President Warren G. Harding, in order that the citizens of this City and surrounding communities may show its deep appreciation of and respect for the honored dead. I do hereby respectfully request that all business of the City be suspended and all places of business be closed between the hours of one and five o’clock of the afternoon on that day, and that all citizens assemble and participate in the memorial service to be conducted under the direction of the American Legion. I further request that all business places and private residences be draped in evidence of our great sorrow and respect for the dead President.
