Delores Pietz

Delores M. Pietz, 89, Bowdle, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Roscoe, led by Pastor Justin Dauck. Interment at Morningside Cemetery, Roscoe.

Delores Magdalene Heiser, daughter of Magdalene (Bertsch) and Henry Heiser, was born July 11, 1930 near Artas in Campbell Co. She was raised on her parent's farm south of Roscoe and attended rural school. She married Eugene Pietz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bowdle on October 27, 1949. They farmed around Roscoe until 1997 when they moved into Bowdle. Eugene also had a trucking business which Delores served as bookkeeper.

Delores enjoyed gardening, crafts, and fishing with Eugene.

Delores is survived by two sons, Darrell Pietz of Aberdeen and Doane Pietz of Watertown; one daughter, Elaine (Ken) Kappenman of Eureka; three brothers, Lawrence Heiser of Billings, Mont., Alvin (Sue) Heiser of San Jacinto, Calif., and Ray (Karen) Heiser of Mitchell; three sisters, Esther Sieler of Aberdeen, Irene Mohr of Billings, and Eva (Melvin) Ackerman of Mound City; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on July 8, 2012; her father, Henry, on June 18, 1969; her mother, Magdalene, on February 21, 1969; four brothers (Edward, Ervin and two infants), and one sister (Hilda Byre).

Honorary bearers will be greatgrandchildren: Morgan, Courtney, Ethan, Austin, Sierra, Khruz, Kolt, Camdyn, and Thayden.

Casketbearers will be grandchildren: Shane Pietz of Aberdeen, Jennifer Lewandowski of Summit, Shannon Burgad of Alexandria, Minn., Corey Kappenman of Valley City, N.D., Dana Kappenman of Edgeley, N.D., and James Pietz of Watertown.

Usher was Allen Beyers and organist was Cindy Miller.
