The Library Remembers When...

From the Ipswich Tribune

February 25, 1925 edition

In the new Baptist Church there are to be two fire places, one has been built of cut stone and it is a work of rare quality. The other to be built in the Junior room is to be something out of the ordinary. Rare stones as smoothed by the glaciers, Indian clubs, petrified wood, carvings or curious in stone or brick are wanted. There are many of these that can be picked up. They have little or no value where they are, but built in a fire place will be permanent object of interest. The building committee asks the good people of Ipswich and territory to donate to this fire place and make it in keeping with the magnificent structure. Who will give a war helmet or relic of the World War for a match safe? Leave all donations at Parmley’s office for the new church, but be sure and give name of donor for permanent record.
