Bryan Breitling officially announces candidacy for the District 23 Senate seat.
Breitling was born at Holy Infant Hospital in Hoven, graduating from Roscoe High School, and working at the Bowdle Healthcare Center and Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital. "I have spent most of my life in District 23," Breitlig said.
"My professional life has been a health care administrator, working in rural hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living for the past twenty-seven years," he said. "With health care being such a regulated industry, in both state and national regulations, my experience working with health care policy gives me the footing to tackle policy in all sectors to benefit District 23. I enjoy the public policy discussions, determining what is good policy, what will advance South Dakota, and how I can help you."
Breitling grew up on a farm south of Roscoe in the 70's and 80's. As a senior in high school, I joined the Army National Guard, serving 11 years, including one tour oversees in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He graduated from Northern State in Business, later attaining a Masters in Health Care Administration from the University of Sioux Falls.
Breitling's only job outside of District 23 was at the Storla Sunset Home for three years. He then moved to Bowdle for six years, and has been living in Miller for the past 19 years, serving as administrator for the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital & Courtyard Villa Assisted Living Center.
Mary, a former elementary/ special education teacher and current director at the Hand County Library, and I have been married for the past 27 years. They have three children, Mason, a first year student at USD Law School; Camden, sophomore Nursing major at Augustana; and Abby, freshman nursing major at University of Mary.
"I have served on the Miller School Board for the past six years, On Hand Development for the past 11 years, Hand in Hand Daycare board for five years, and various committees and boards at the Miller United Methodist Church for the past 15 years," he said.
"Living most of my life in District 23, I know that our economy lives and breathes with the agriculture sector," Breitling said. "I am also well versed in the community aspects of our district that are needed to make the best quality of life for us who live here in rural South Dakota."
Breitling looks forward to visiting with District 23 voters about policy in South Dakota.
