Patricia "Pat" Ann (Williams) Schlagel passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 23, 2020 at her home in Aberdeen, at the age of 72.
Private services were held on March 27, 2020 at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark with the Reverend Daniel Smith officiating. Burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. A public Memorial Mass will be held at a date in the future when public gatherings are allowed again.
Pat was born September 29, 1947 in Havre, Mont. to Virgil and Wilma (Heinz) Williams.
Pat grew up in Ipswich, where she graduated from Ipswich High School in 1965. Following graduation, she attended Northern State College in Aberdeen where she earned her degree in business and where she met the love of her life and her life partner, Eugene "Gene" Schlagel. They were united in marriage on Oct. 5, 1968, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich.
Their married life began in Redfield, and then for a short time in Yankton, before making their residence in Onida, where she worked for Vorhees Law and Missouri Slope Feedlot. In 1977, they moved to Aberdeen, where they made their permanent residence and continued to raise their four children - Kari, Nicole "Nikki", Dustin, and Lindsey.
Pat began her work career at Student Loan Finance Corporation in Aberdeen, starting in October 1983 and worked there until her retirement in 2012. Student Loan was a second family to her where she had amazing co-workers and made many life-long friends.
Pat was a deeply devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her and she would let you know that every time you talked to her. They spent many years watching their children and now grandchildren play in their many sporting activities. Pat also loved the outdoors, gardening, camping and spending quality time with family and friends. They enjoyed spending time together and it was entertaining watching them ride their own lawn mower, chasing each other around as they mowed.
For everyone who truly knew Pat, a favorite pastime was shopping. She was a very classy lady, beautiful inside and out.
Grateful for having shared Pat's life are her husband, Gene; children, Kari Fuhrman (Larry Cutler), Nikki (Adam) Wright, Dustin (Colleen) Schlagel, and Lindsey (Gregg) Wade; grandchildren, Brady Fuhrman, Karly (Phil) Bunkowske, Reilly and Ryder Fuhrman, Tatum and Talli Wright, Tori, Ty, and Tavin Schlagel and one great-grandson Harrison Bunkowske; mother, Wilma Williams; siblings, Pamela (Carl) Blank, Rick (Cheri) Williams, Gary (Shelley) Williams, Lynn (Rob) Schlaefli, Lori Geier, Terry Williams, Michele (Dave) Gran, Joe Williams; brothers-in-law, Terry (Deb) Schlagel, Wayne (Jackie) Schlagel; sister-in-law, Lynette (Marlin) Munce-Flint and many nieces and nephews.
