Sustaining a 2019 Class B girls' high school volleyball SoDak 16 loss one game away from the State B, the Tiger netters might very well feel like they have some incentive to do well this year. That's because their varsity roster features 10 returning seniors, a luxury that not a whole lot of teams can experience.
Alphabetically the seniors include Hailey Bierman, Halie Feldman, Kate Geditz, Lindsey Grabowska, Halle Heinz, Taryn Kleffman, Ashton Loken, Paige Mehlberg, Chesney Olivier and Bailey Pitz.
Tasia Rivera is a junior and there are no fewer than eight sophomores. They include Katie Bierman, Vanessa Diaz, Madison Geditz, Jailey Hutson, Baylee Kulesa, Gracie Lange, Quincy Olivier and Kaitlyn Williams. The freshmen are Karlie Gohl and Hailey Usselman.
Their first match is at home against Aberdeen Christian on the 25th of August and it is a conference match as well. Their home schedule will also feature Ipswich's own invite on September 19. Their first road match will be at Highmore-Harrold on Aug. 27. The regional showdown is scheduled for November, 2, 3 and 5.
Trent Osborne is their coach, assisted by Kayla Nilsson. "We plan to take all the lessons we learned last season and put them to the test this season," Osborne says. "We have a great schedule with a number of very tough teams. So, each of those matchups will make us better daily. We want to do everything we can to make sure that we are playing outstanding volleyball in November and that there will be games to play in November."
