Our weather is going to slowly trend back towards normal for this time of the year, whatever normal is! All good things must come to an end.
I've noticed golfers both in Ipswich and Aberdeen (don't know about Roscoe) over the past weekend. And you guys should also be out fishing. The old adage that "fish bite best" when the wind is in the west" has been put to the test, because our winds during these drought conditions mostly seem to emanate from the west, mainly straight west, but they are so strong that you often notice southwesterly or northwesterly directions mixing in with the westerly gusts. Another thing you may have noticed about our on-going dry spell is that while the daytime high temp might be somewhere in the mid to upper 40's, it can still drop down to the teens or even lower overnight and into the next morning.
And back in the day when I used to attempt to fish, we would actually experience our best success when the wind was in the southeast, probably due to the barometer. And regarding the part of the saying "when the wind is in the east fish bite the least" and also "when the wind is in the north don't venture forth", we really did find that to be quite reliable. So obviously if the wind is in the northeast, which it occasionally is, you would have two good reasons to stay home and make some lures. Or get out your snow shovel just in case!
