For the second year in a row, Miss Ipswich was crowned the Princess of Summer at the South Dakota Snow Queen Festival.
Lindsey Grabowska, 2021 Miss Ipswich, was crowned the Princess of Summer on Saturday, Jan. 9 in the Aberdeen Civic Arena. 2020 Miss Ipswich Avery Sylte had the same honor.
Lindsey said the contestants gathered on Thursday. The event began with a tea that morning. The day was spent getting to know each other. They had a practice and enjoyed the activities at Allevity. They stayed at the Ramkota. Lindsey's roommate was Miss Sully County.
Friday was the day for interviews with the judges.
Lindsey said they practiced again Saturday and the girls visited the Dacotah Prairie Museum. Then it was time for the big event.
There were four Princesses (the Snow Queen runners-up), one for each season. The other Princesses were Princess of Spring, Miss Aberdeen Tinley Nilson; Princess of Winter, Miss Highmore Haley Husted; and Princess of Autumn, Miss Mobridge Callie Weisbeck. Miss Congeniality was Miss Northwestern Bailey Heim.
Miss Hoven April Simon was crowned the 2021 South Dakota Snow Queen.
