Dorothy A. Shonrock

Graveside services for Dorothy A. Shonrock, 96, of Ipswich were at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Brett Bierman officiating. Dorothy died Monday, Jan. 4, at Avantara in Ipswich.

Dorothy Crane was born on Nov. 1, 1924 to Leslie and Vivian (Smith) Crane in Aberdeen. She grew up on a farm nine miles from Mansfield near Scatterwood Lake. She attended school in Northville, and graduated from Northville High School.

On Dec. 25, 1960, Dorothy married Orville Shonrock in Aberdeen. They moved to Canada and spent some time in Saskatchewan, along the Craig River, and the West Coast before moving to Ipswich. Dorothy worked at the Marcus P. Beebe Public Library in Ipswich for the next 16 years. Orville died in 1975.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing. She made numerous dresses, suits and quilts. She was a very personable person and loved cats and her dog, Skipper.

Grateful for having shared Dorothy's life are her sister-in-law, Mary Crane; and her nephews, Leon E. Crane, Stephen W. Crane, and Daryl L. Crane, all of Mansfield.

Preceding Dorothy in death are parents, Leslie and Vivian Crane; husband, Orville Shonrock; brother, Maurice Crane.
