The Ipswich Tiger girls closed out their regular-season schedule at 13-7 with a 55-47 conquest of the Potter County Battlers last Thursday in Gettysburg.
Ipswich would obtain a 15-6 first-quarter lead and then doubled PC 26-13 at intermission. Ipswich's biggest lead of the night had been 16 points, but the hosts would begin to whittle away their deficit by winning the third-quarter scoring battle 15-13 as well as obtaining a 19-16 edge during the final eight minutes of the contest.
Ipswich was led by Halle Heinz and Katie Bierman with 20 points apiece and Heinz included one trey, as did Bailey Pitz for her three points that evening. Chesney Olivier almost reached double-figures in the scorebook with nine points. Halie Feldman scored two points and Lindsey Grabowska a free throw.
The hosts got just five players into their scoring column, led by Ashley Kaup and Tyler Simon with 16 points each.
The hosts made 19 baskets including six treys and were 3-4 in free throws. Ipswich responded with 16 floor shots that featured that pair of treys and finished 21-30 at the free throw line, getting there much more often than their hosts would.
The Tigers were able to claim 27 rebounds, paced by Katie Bierman and Feldman with four each. The Potter County rebounders were led by Kayden Cronin with 12 rebounds. Kaup and Simon were next with six retrieves apiece and their team would total 36 rebounds.
Ipswich had only four turnovers, protecting the basketball really well and helped force 19 PC miscues with 14 steals, led by Katie Bierman with seven. She also led Ipswich in assists with five.
