Tigers compete indoors at NSU

Ipswich did quite well at an indoor high school track and field meet last Thursday at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen. (No team points were kept at the Fuller Invitational.)

"The track and field meet went well for the Tigers last Thursday," said coach Todd Thorson.

The Tiger girls captured four first-place finishes, three individually and the 1,600-meter relay. Emily DeRaad won the 800-meter run in 2:32, Ashlyn Weig the 55-meter hurdles finals in 10.75 and Paige Mehlberg the high jump in 5-03. She joined Ashley Ptacek, Emily DeRaad and anchor Halle Heinz in that relay outcome in 4:44.07.

Mehlberg also added a second-place 200-meter dash in 30.22 and Ptacek did likewise in the 400-meter outcome in 1:08.59. So did Ashlinn Hartwell in the 3,200-meter run in 14:16.54.

On the boys' side Josh McQuarie provided Ipswich's lone individual win, capturing the 55-meter hurdles finals in 9.13. But Ty Kadlec finished second in the 55-meter dash finals in 7.01. Carson Gohl also accomplished that in the 200-meter dash in 25.20. And McQuarie was also able to claim second-place in his high jump competition, clearing 5.06.

There is another indoor meet there this Thursday starting at 2 p.m. with field events and 3:30 p.m. for the track. Furthermore, Ipswich plans to host an outdoor early bird on April 6 at 12:30 p.m. weather permitting!
