Ipswich golfers begin season on April 9 in Mitchell

The Ipswich Tigers high school golf season will begin on April 9 at the Mitchell Class B Classic, coached by Matt Pollock. A highlight of the regular-season schedule will be Ipswich’s own meet on April 24 at Split Rock Country Club, starting at 10 a.m. Another highlight will be the LRC meet planned for Aberdeen on May 6.

The season will progress along towards the pre-region practice meet on May 17 at the Broadland Creek course in Huron, followed by the actual Regionals on May 24 there. (The IHS golfers should be getting quite familiar with that course as they also plan to attend a JVC Invitational meet on May 13.)

Brookings, meanwhile, will host the State B meets on June 7-8.

There are currently three IHS girls on their roster, just enough for team scoring purposes. They are all seniors – Halie Feldman, Tarynn Kleffman and Ashton Loken.

The boys will furnish 12 golfers for the IHS program with no seniors. But there are three juniors, Jacob Bakken, Matthew Jaenisch and Luke Peterson. There are also three sophomores and they are Evan Onken, Gabe Simon and Gavin Wollman.

The freshmen are Adam Kanable, Jace Konsor, Trevor Larson and Chet Peterson. The eighth-grade boys are Nicholas Fuhrmann and Brooks Osborne.
