Safe Harbor has office in county

MacKenzie Gerth is the outreach coordinator at Safe Harbor, who serves Edmunds County.

Safe Harbor is the family violence shelter and resource center located in Aberdeen. The agency assists men, women, and children with safety planning, shelter, advocacy during or after leaving an abusive situation. Abuse in a relationship can be emotional, physical, financial, or stalking and so many more.

Safe Harbor can also assist victims of sexual assault, stalking, all forms of family violence or elder abuse. They have a variety of resources such as our 24-hour crisis line, support group, protection orders, court accompaniment, referrals, housing, and emergency financial assistance.

Gerth has office hours in Edmunds County on the second Tuesday of the month at the Edmunds County Courthouse. "I am available to come up at a different time to meet with a victim," she said.

They have advocates available by phone/email 24/7 by calling 605-226-1212, see their website http://www.safeharborsd.org, on Facebook at AberdeenSafeHarbor, or by text 605-622-0104.
