The Trail Days 2021 parade began at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The theme was a salute to essential workers.
There were 70 entries, including a variety of entries thanking the essential workers, classic cars and tractors and a few classes enjoying reunions.
June Torrence-Heinz, PA-C and Vickie Ernst, PA-C were the parade marshals.
Parade winners were:
• Yellowstone Trail Award: Most imaginative - Grandma's Ceramics
• Parmley Historical Award: Best Historical theme - John Sieh Agency
• Mayor's Choice - Ipswich Lumber and Hardware
• Alumni Award: Best reunion entry - Class of 1970
• Trail Award: Best Western theme - Missy Weigel (part of the Aberdeen National Guard)
• Preservation Award: Antique car and/or machinery: Whitey Goodall of Aberdeen, 1957 truck
Best use of theme Award: "A Salute to Essential Workers" - Ipswich State Bank
After the parade the festivities moved to the Trail Days Arena area.
Several vendors had entries in the "Art - Outta the Park" show. There was an area for classic vehicles to show off their vehicles. More classics could be found by the Agtegra office.
Inflatables and a Corn Hole Tournament were set up for the afternoon.
Food vendors were available for lunch and supper.
Lainey Wilson took the stage at 8 p.m., opening the concert for Neal McCoy. Trail Days organizers estimated there were 1,200 to 1,500 people enjoying the classic country music. McCoy included a variety of styles in the concert - his hit songs with a rock tune and a classic hymn added in.
