The annual Mina Lake Freedom Festival is set for Saturday, July 3, culminating with a huge fireworks display at around 10 p.m.
It will be preceded by live music by Avenger Joe, starting at 9 p.m. continuing until 1 a.m.
Free is the word for the Fest! All the events are indeed free and many are kids-oriented as well.
The day starts at 9 a.m. with a 5K Run, two-mile Fun Walk and Kids Run at the M Station, with registration at 8 a.m.
The 9th Annual Kids Fishing for Freedom begins with registration at 9 a.m. at the public boat launch. Fishing will be from 10 a.m. to noon.
Then kids under 12 years old get lunch free from noon to 1 p.m. at the Wakeside. Then the Wakeside will have activities for kids until 2 p.m.
The Avera Helicopter flyover will begin at 7 p.m. The Ipswich Fire Department and the helicopter will have displays on the Wakeside Bridge until 9 p.m.
Enjoy watching local and regional antique aircraft flyovers at 8 p.m.
