Fiddlin' Around

The NBA is real basketball (they even allow zone defenses nowadays). And the NBA finals are an especially real treat this year, because there were no LeBrons or even a Steph.

What more could you say about the two teams that outlasted all the also rans. Phoenix had never won an NBA finals and Milwaukee hasn't been in that position in this century. (But there is a new LeBron whose Greek surname I can't even begin to pronounce — Giannis A.) And I heard somewhere that he is already no stranger to NBA MVP recognition, having reached that pinnacle of success for two years. (The play by play announcers will quite often just call him by his first name and that might very well be because he actually has a brother (Thanasis) on the Bucks roster as well!)

And of course there are a number of NBA stars headed for the Olympics and they aren't all just from the USA. The NBA has become increasing internationalized much like the NCAA college recruits. And our Olympians were stunningly upset by Nigeria in a recent Olympics exhibition game as I understand, so Team USA can indeed be vulnerable on a given night. That's because several of the other country's rosters indeed might contain an NBA player or two as well. Or at the very least some former NBAers!
