Ipswich to host eight-team Subway Volleyball Invitational

Attention: All volleyball fans! Ipswich will host the Ipswich Subway Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 18 beginning at 10 a.m.

There will be two pools, one played in the gym and the second in the auxiliary gym.

Ipswich will play in the opening game at 10 a.m. in the big gym in Pool A versus Leola/Frederick. Other teams in that pool are Milbank and Kimball/White Lake and they will play at 10:45 a.m. Then those teams will play each other in a series of games.

Play in Pool B will begin with Aberdeen Christian playing Herreid/Selby Area at 10 a.m. Lemmon will face Langford Area at 10:45 a.m. Then those teams will play each other in a series of games.

After all have played each other the remaining games will determine the tourney places. In the big gym the third-place team from each pool will play for overall fifth place. At the same time the fourth-place team from each pool will play in the auxiliary gym for overall seventh place.

Then the second-place teams from each pool will play in the auxiliary gym to determine the overall third-place team. At the same time, the first-place teams from each pool will play in the big gym to determine the overall champion.

An All-Tourney Team of 10 will be chosen by the coaches, with each receiving a certificate. The champion team will get a plaque and a Subway sub platter for the ride home.
