Tigers end regular season with win, Region 2B play begins next week

Ipswich got back on the winning track with an impressive Lake Region Conference high school volleyball victory over Leola/Frederick Area last Monday in the friendly confines of the Tiger Den.

The Tigers indeed won a straight-set victory 25-15, 25-17 and 25-12 over the visiting Titan netters.

Ipswich would gradually take control of each respective set and Vanesa Diaz provided their set point in the first set with a tip kill, as did Quincy Olivier in the second set with her own kill. Ipswich would then experience its most impressive set win that evening, punctuated by scoring what would prove to be the last two points of the set and the match.

Ipswich fueled its LRC win with a 68 of 82 hitting evening that featured no less than 37 kills. The visitors countered with 64 hits including just 15 kills with a balanced effort that was led by Sofi Losure with 22 hits including three kills.

The Tigers were a perfect 79 in setting up their attack and included 33 assists, led by Olivier 40-40 with 16 assists and Katie Bierman 27-27 with 10 assists. The Titans also went without a miss in setting with a 83-83 night that included a dozen assists.

The service line would also be effective for Ipswich that night with a 70-78, 16 aces evening. It was paced by Bierman 14-15 with five aces and Madison Geditz 17-19 with five aces as well. The Titans were 40-43 there with a pair of aces, led by Chloe Arneson at 9-9 with one ace.

The Tigers would come away with 47 team digs; L-F, 53. Ipswich was led by Geditz with 15 and Bierman with 11. The visitors earned 53 digs, led by Arneson with 14. Ipswich also utilized a pair of assisted blocks, from Baylee Kulesa and Diaz with one assist apiece. The Titans countered with one solo block from Losure.

The win lifted Ipswich's win-loss season record at 13-13. The Tigers then got a 3-1 win on Monday, Oct. 25 over Herreid/Selby Area. Watch for details next week.

The post-season schedule starts with Region 2B action on November 1,2,4. Ipswich will play on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 2, most likely at Highmore-Harrold according to Coach Trent Osborne.
