The Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers competed in Miller on January 8 at the Miller/Highmore-Harrold Invitational.
Six I/B wrestlers competed with five bringing home placing medals. Brady Unser dropped down to 113 pounds to lead the team with a third place. Tanner Frickson and Marcus Hofer placed fifth. Kadyn Weisser placed sixth and Grant Weisser placed eighth. The I/B team placed eleventh out of sixteen teams. Redfield won the tournament with 215.5 points, followed by Mt. Vernon/Plankinton/ Corsica-Stickney with 159 points.
Coach Todd Naasz said, "The wrestling team competed very well this weekend. I feel we are on track to achieve our goals by the end of the season. The team continues to improve every week and their hard work and dedication continues to show each week. This was our toughest tournament so far this year with a lot of state-rated athletes competing."
The wrestling team will be in action twice this week. They have a home quadrangular on Thursday, Jan. 13 versus Fauklton, Miller/ Highmore-Harrold and Mobridge-Pollock with wrestling starting at 5:30 p.m. The wrestlers will travel to Gettysburg for the Battler Invitational Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. They will participate in the Mobridge-Pollock Invitational Tournament on Jan. 18.
