Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers busy last week

The Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers competed on Tuesday, January 18 in Mobridge at the Mobridge/Pollock Invitational. 

Ipswich/Bowdle was fourth with 28 points. Mobridge-Pollock won the event with 61.5 points. Tanner Frickson led the team with nine team points, with his two pins.

Saturday, Jan. 22 the team traveled to Arlington to participate in the Kingsbury County Invitational. Redfield Area won the Invitational with 267 points. Brookings was second. Ipswich/Bowdle was 14th with 38 points.

Frickson placed third with his only loss on the day to the 132 pound champion Dylan Zell from Kingsbury County.  Zell and Frickson wrestled to a high scoring match with Zell winning by major decision 20-12.

The Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers return to action on January 29 in Groton with a 10 a.m. start time.

Individual results in the Mobridge-Pollock Invititional were:

138 — Tanner Frickson (first place) win by fall 1:24, won by fall 3:34 (9 team points)

145 — Beau Shilling (fifth place) was pinned 2:22, won by forfeit, was pinned 3:43, was pinned 1:40, was pinned 1:47 (7 team points)

170 — Justin Rohrbach was pinned 5:50, lost 9-3

195 — Kadyn Weisser (first place) won by fall 1:26, won by fall 0:32 (6 team points)

285 — Marcus Hofer (first place) won by fall 3:09, won by fall 0:41 (6 team points)

Individual results in the Kingsbury County Invitational were:

132 — Tanner Frickson (third place) received a bye, won by major decision 15-6, lost by major decision 20-12, won by fall 3:50, won 5-2 (17 team points)

138 — Beau Shilling was pinned 1:44, was pinned 2:58

170 — Justin Rohrbach won by fall 4:46, was pinned 1:59, received a bye, lost 13-6 (4 team points)

182 — Grant Weisser was pinned 2:33, received a bye, won by fall 0:52, lost 11-4 (4 team points)

195 — Kadyn Weisser (5th place) received a bye, won by fall 5:34, lost by major decision 12-2, lost by major decision 12-1, won by fall 2:40 (13 team points)
