Ipswich dropped a Lake Region Conference girls' high school basketball outcome to Aberdeen Christian last Tuesday, Feb. 8 in Ipswich. The final verdict would be 58-24, as the Tigers would not even be able to score until the second quarter, trailing 23-0 at the first break.
Katie Bierman finally got Ipswich on the board early in second quarter with her deuce. And she would score the rest of her team's second-quarter points as well, as the Tigers would still face a 38-9 halftime deficit. They would then trail 51-11 with a quarter to play. Ipswich did manage to outscore its visitors 13-7 in the final stanza.
Bierman finished with 13 points that included one trey. Next would be Ashlyn Weig and Quincy Olivier with four points apiece, followed by Rylee Kleffman with a game-ending trey.
The Knights utilized nine different scorers, led by Mallory Miller with 21 points. They shot 22-43 from the floor including three treys and were 11-19 in free throw tries. Ipswich countered with 11-42 field goal shooting that featured those two treys. The Tigers were 0-5 at the free throw stripe that evening.
The Knights collected 30 rebounds; Ipswich, 31, led by Olivier with six boards. The Tigers incurred 17 turnovers; the Knights, only seven, protecting the ball really well. But Ipswich had five steals, led by Baylee Kulesa with two thefts. Aberdeen Christian pirated 12 thefts.
