Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers split dual action in Highmore

The Ipswich/Bowdle wrestlers traveled to Highmore on February 9 for a dual against Miller/Highmore-Harrold and Sully Buttes.

In the first action of the night the Tigers faced the Bandits of M/H-H. The teams split the four matches where each team had wrestlers. The Bandits came up on the top in the dual 36 to 21.

"A couple of our athletes got one last good match before the post season," said Coach Todd Naasz. "I am excited to go to region this weekend. The team has prepared all season for this meet and I feel a lot of individuals have a great chance to qualify for State," he said.

The Tigers prepare this week for Regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 19 in Britton. Wrestling action will begin at 10 a.m. at the Britton School. The top four place winners at regions will advance to the state tournament in Sioux Falls on February 24 and 25.

Naasz said Clayton Horst wrestled hard to an eighth place finish at the middle school championship.
