Ellen Palmer

Funeral services for Ellen Dayle Palmer, 94, of Aberdeen, were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Richland Church, with Pastor Jon Damaska officiating. Burial was at Richland Cemetery.

Ellen died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Derian Place in Aberdeen.

Ellen Dayle Steward was born on a farm near Athol on March 23, 1927 to Douglas and Althia Steward. Together they moved to the family farm at Chelsea.

She graduated from high school in 1945 and went on to get her degree at Wessington Springs College.

She married Elton Palmer on June 23, 1953, in Redfield. They made their home on a farm near Mina.

She was a long-time member of the Richland Wesleyan Church. She loved life on the farm where she was a gardener, cook, nurse, veterinarian, chauffer, mechanic, and seamstress.

She will be remembered for her love of God and her family. She was a wonderful Mom to her five daughters, the house full of girls who often visited, and grandma to her grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared Ellen's life are Beverly (Ron) Wilson, Barbara (Dave) Stratton, Beth (Mike) Schwab, Becky (Dick) McNeil, Charlene (Christo) DeVilliers; grandchildren, Jeana (Jake) Miller, Matthew French (Jessica Carter), Chelsea Stratton-Temme (Nathan Temme), Brendan (Michelle) Stratton, Ian Schwab, Roye Schwab (Ryan Hopfinger), Gil (Kelsea) Schwab, Macey (Jesse) LaVoy, Jackson Schwab, Willa Schwab; step-grandchildren, Jason (Janelle) Wilson, Niki (Thomas) Gainey, Bianca (Roelf) Smit; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Levi, and Kenzie Miller, Wyatt Stratton, and Kennedy and Baelyn Schwab; step-great-grandchildren, Colson and Wilson Gainey, and Ainsley Smit; siblings, Paul Steward, Don (Mildred) Steward, Lorin Steward, Orville (Bonnie) Steward.

Preceding Ellen in death are her parents, Douglas and Althia Steward; husband, Elton Palmer; and great-granddaughter, Laramie Schwab.
