The Ipswich track and field teams will be attending the State B in Sioux Falls on May 26-28. Nearly 20 Tiger boys and 13 Tiger girls have qualified for the B this year and that's awesome!
"This is one of the largest teams we have ever taken to state," says Coach Todd Thorson. "I am so proud of these athletes. They have really worked hard and we can't wait to go compete at state."
Some of the state events even have more than one IHS entrant. Take for instance the pole vault in both boys and girls divisions with three IHS thinclads — the defending champion Marley Guthmiller, Quincy Olivier and Kaitlyn Williams for the girls and Brody Davis, Darrel Yost and Rasmus Loken for the boys.
Other boys include Ty Kadlec, Carson Gohl, Zach Geditz, Taylor Thorson, Trevor Beyers, Lucas Rowland, Carter Geditz, Ian Beyers, Tyler Hettich, Turner Thorson, Colby Sylte, Trevor Heinz, Kyle Hettich, Maxwell Kulesa and Casey Geditz. The remaining IHS girls will be Emily DeRaad, Ashley Ptacek, Gracie Lange, Vanesa Diaz, Ashlinn Hartwell, Kathryn Kilber, Gabby Wald, Gracyn Kadlec, Madisyn Gellhaus and Brianna Geditz.
The meet begins on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. and the Tigers certainly hope to be in the hunt.
