Tiger Boys Region champs, Girls Region runners-up

This year's Region 2B high school track and field event last Wednesday at Gettysburg was dominated by Ipswich and Miller thinclads. The Tiger boys indeed edged runners-up Miller 185 to 146 for their championship. The girls' outcome, meanwhile, would find the IHS girls finishing second only to Miller by a 146 to 125.5 tally.

And rumor has it that Miller will be going back to Class A this fall and will likely be replaced by Lyman.

The Tiger boys were propelled by Ty Kadlec's two individual titles and he also anchored a winning relay outcome. Kadlec sped to a :11.32 100-meter dash win and also finished first in the 200-meter dash at :23.34, where teammate Colby Sylte was second in :23.91. That relay would be the 4x200 and would be manned by Turner Thorson, Trevor Beyers, Sylte and Ty Kadlec in 1:33.16. And Sylte had a busy day including a 20-05.50 long jump win, followed closely by teammate Trevor Heinz in second at 20-00.50

Carter Geditz won the 110-meter hurdles in :16.09 and was second in the 300-meter hurdles at :43.52. Zach Geditz won the discus at 124-11 and Tyler Hettich the high jump measured at 5-10.00. Brody Davis added a pole vault victory at 10-00.00.

Now for the IHS girls! Gracie Lange tied for second in the high jump at 4-08.00 and was also second in the long jump at 15-06.25 and Quincy Olivier added a second in the pole vault at 8-09.00.

Those seconds can really add up, especially if one thinclad gets some of them by themselve. For example Madisyn Gellhaus was second in the 800-meter run, clocked at 2:37.91 and also second in the 1600-meter run at 5:43.95. And the Tiger girls were indeed second in the 4x800 ran by Gehlhaus, Gabby Wald, Kathryn Kilber and Gracyn Kadlec in 11:18.82.
