Tigers Xavier Kadlec and Turner Thorson among the runners as the race gets going.
Ipswich had a busy day hosting its cross country invitational last Saturday at Split Rock.
The Tiger boys were able to finish second only to Miller 10 to 17 as a team. And the Tiger girls only entered two varsity runners that day, but Madisyn Gellhaus was third in 19:41.79 and Gracyn Kadlec fourth in 19:49.88.
But running for some additional experience that day, Ipswich's Aubrey DeRaad would indeed win the girls' JV competition at 17:02.12.
"They really ran well," Coach Todd Thorson explained. For instance Turner Thorson placed fifth in boys' varsity action at 17:55.93 and Dylan Wald was next at 18:04.37. Xavier Kadlec also dented the varsity Top 10, placing ninth in 18:20.66.
Getting some taste of competition Ipswich entered a few other JV and middle-school runners. Ava Davis was fourth for the JV girls in 18:26.70, followed by Bella Unser 12th in 20:53.68 and Hailey Usselman 17th in 24:43.68. There were two JV boys that day, Tye Pietz fifth at 16:02.47 and Tyler Gellhaus tenth at 16:19.35.
The boys' middle-school entrants included Ethan Wald fifth at 11:54.32, Jace Stiles 13th at 12:54.64, Clayton Horst at 19th in 13:39.88, Benjamin Hoyle 22nd at 13:50.10, Gaven Horst 25th at 14:15.05, Edison Unser 28th at 15:06.67 and Jasper Opsahl 31st at 16:37.91.
And Aubrey Crissman was fourth among the JH girls in 13:22.76, followed by Sophia Knittel 16th in 15:08.00, Olivia Kadlec 20th in 16:26.00 and Darcy Yost placed 23rd at 18:27.00.
The Tigers will head to Gettysburg on September 17 for the Potter County Invite.
