Ipswich Tigers third in tournament in Mobridge

Ipswich placed third in a high school volleyball invitational tourney at Mobridge last Saturday. The IHS Tigers won their opener over Stanley County, but lost a semi-final decision to the hosts. That sent the IHS netters into the third-place match won by Ipswich 2-1 over Herreid/Selby Area.

Their first match win over Stanley County was a straight-sets 25-18, 25-15 affair.

Gracie Lange was 15-15 in serving with five aces. Madison Geditz was next at 6-6,2. Altogether Ipswich landed 44 accurate serves that included 10 aces.

The Tigers were also 52-61 in attacking the net and featured 14 kills. Lange went 12-15 with six kills, Baylee Kulesa 14-15 with four kills and Marley Guthmiller 9-10 with three kills. Ipswich got 58-sets in as many tries and included 15 assists. That was mostly led by Quincy Olivier 47-47 with 13 assists and Geditz 6-6,2.

Ipswich had 35 digs, led by Geditz with eight and Kulesa with seven. The Tigers had six assisted blocks led by Guthmiller and Kulesa with two each.

Taking a 25-15, 25-15 loss to their Tiger counterparts, the IHS netters were 29-32 in serving attempts with four aces, led by Geditz at 9-9 with two aces and Olivier, 5-6,2. Ipswich was 30-39 attacking with 13 kills, led by Kulesa 11-13 eight kills and Lange 7-12 three kills.

Ipswich had 39 sets in as many tries with four assists, led by Olivier at 29-29 with three assists.

Credit the Tigers with 19 digs, led by Vanesa Diaz and Lange with five each.

Things improved vs. the Wolverines. Ipswich lost its opener 25-17, but bounced back with 25-20 and 27-25 wins.

The Tigers finished 52 of 66 service attempts and landed six aces, led by Geditz 8-9 with three aces and Olivier 11-14 with two aces. Ipswich finished 83-99 at the net and featured 34 huge kills. They were led by Lange 23-30 with 10 kills, Olivier 20-21 with eight kills and Kulesa 28-32 with eight kills. The Tigers were a perfect 83 in sets with 20 assists, led by Olivier 74-74 with 18 assists and Reaghan Bowers went 5-5 with one assist.

Ipswich came away with 81 digs, paced by Geditz with 23 of them and Diaz with 12. The Tigers added six assisted blocks led by Kaylin Onken with three assists and Kulesa with two.
