October temperatures drops off to an average high of 58° and a low of 33°. That’s a drop of 14° from September’s average high and 13° for an average low covering 47 year.
Some Octobers have exceeded the average high and these three years were the highest:
• 1989: Average high of 65° which is the highest average temp. from 47 years -Two days in the 80s (83 the highest), ten days in the 70s and six in the 60s – 15 night time reading were freezing though.
• 1975: Average high of 64° – The first 8 day’s average high temp. was 80° but it drops off fast – Six days in the 80s (88 the highest), five in the 70s and four days in the 60s – 16 night time readings were freezing though.
• 1997: Average high of 62° – Five days in the 80s (88 the highest), seven days in the 70s & five in 60s – Ten night time readings were freezing though.
Some Octobers were very cool and these three years were the lowest:
• 2009: Average high temp. of only 46° – One day in the 70s, none in the 60s, seven in the 50s and14 in the 40s – 12 night time readings were freezing.
• 2019: Average high temp. of only 49° – No days in the 70s, seven in the 60s, five in the 50s and 10 in the 40s – 17 night time readings were freezing.
• 2020: Average high temp. of only 49° – Two days in the 80s, five in the 70s, three in the 60s, five in the 50s and three in the 40s – 19 night time freezing temps. – One below zero temp. of -5 on the 27th.
