S.D. All-State Chorus this weekend

The South Dakota All-State Chorus and Orchestra will meet October 28 and 29 in the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.

Ipswich students in the chorus are Emily Knoll, Kamryn Boettcher, Lawson Santema and Gavin Wollman. This will be Gavin’s fifth year as an All-State singer.

The IHS alternates are Savannah Coisman, Gracyn Kadlec, Lewis Judkins and Ashton Santema.

The Chorus begins rehearsals on Friday, Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. The chorus director is Sarah Catt of Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Ill.

The All-State Orchestra will also be rehearsing, under the direction of Dr. Alexander Fokkens of the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham, Alabama.

Friday night the students can listen to the US Army Band: SGT Rock & Mission Essential Brass.

Saturday afternoon at 1:30 the four-year All-State students will be recognized.

The two groups will pose for a All-State photo at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday evening, followed by the All-State Concert at 7 p.m.

The Chorus and Orchestra will each perform, as well as the combined Chorus and Orchestra.

The concert can be watched on South Dakota Public TV on Saturday at 7 p.m.
