Amendment D

Before the General Election on November 8, 2022, please do your research on Constitution Amendment D. You will see large amounts of money being spent on full page advertisement to vote for Amendment D.

In 2019 there was an estimated 884,000 citizens living in South Dakota. An estimated 64% are in the 18-year-old to 64-year-old age group or 565,760 people. That means there will be 523,760 contributing their tax dollars and 42,000 South Dakota citizens, ages 18 to 65 years old, that currently do not carry health insurance but would begin receiving medical assistance with this Medicaid expansion. Medicaid already has programs for children, low-income pregnant women/parents, seniors in nursing homes, and individuals with disabilities.

There have been 38 states that have implemented Medicaid expansion, as South Dakotans we should stop following and start leading by VOTING NO on Amendment D. By VOTING NO this will keep the Medicaid expansion out of the South Dakota Constitution and will not strap future generations with unnecessary cost. Amendment D encourages those who are able to work to not seek employment, aligning South Dakota for increased Federal regulation which will be funded by your tax dollars.

In 2021, legislation passed a bill allowing the creation of insurance coverage through South Dakota Farm Bureau for some uninsured South Dakota residents. I believe the solution is here for those South Dakotans without insurance, we need to get them correct information so they can purchase affordable health care coverage.

My vote on November 8th will be NO on Amendment D. If it isn’t broke don’t try to fix it.

Please vote on November 8 and take a neighbor or friend to their polling place. Do your own research on Constitution Amendment D.

Thank you,

Representative-Elect Scott Moore

South Dakota House of Representative District 23
