Ipswich captured its Region 6B high school volleyball opener 3-0 on Monday in the Tiger Den. That will send the Tigers to Faulkton to compete for a 6B bracket championship on Thursday.
The Tigers indeed obtained a relatively easy straight sets win over the Raiders and the set scores were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-11 respectively.
Ipswich would total 96 hits that included 34 kills led by Gracie Lange at 44-48 with 19 kills. Next would be Baylee Kulesa at 29-33 with 12 kills. The visitors utilized their own 1-2 punch at the net in the persons of Skyler Volmer 34-34 with eight kills and Mak Scott, 21-21, 8.
Ipswich fueled that attack with 66 sets in as many tries that included 26 assists all from Quincy Olivier. She would end up with a perfect 59 total sets.
The service line would also be where Ipswich would do a lot of damage with 66 accurate serves that featured Olivier at 16-17 with four aces and Jaydin Stiles at 6-6, 4. Ipswich totaled 11 aces, the visitors only two.
Ipswich obtained 61 digs; Lyman, 67, one of the visitors bright spots that night. Ipswich was led by Madison Geditz with 16 digs and Kulesa with 14.
"An ace by Jaydin Stiles ended the match," Coach Trent Osborne said. "All nine different girls that served for us executed our serving game plan very well and kept the Raiders out-of-system all night."
