2023 Ipswich Snow Queen crowned

The Ipswich 2023 Snow Queens were crowned on Saturday, Nov. 12 in the School Theatre.

Jailey Hutson, daughter of Jean and Tracy Hutson, was crowned 2023 Miss Ipswich Snow Queen. Gracyn Kadlec was crowned 2023 Junior Miss Ipswich Snow Queen. She is the daughter of Nathan and Deidre Kadlec.

Samantha Feldman, the daughter of April Feldman and Rich Lacher, was the senior first runner-up. The junior first runner-up was Charli Rawden, daughter of Amanda and Jeremy Rawden. Charli was also chosen Miss Congeniality by the senior and junior contestants. The junior second runner-up was Madisyn Gellhaus, daughter of Alesha and Landon Thayer and Frank Salwei. The junior third runner-up was LaVayah Russell, daughter of Heidi Russell and Trevor Russell.

The first grade Princess and Prince chosen at random were Princess Natalie Meyer, daughter of Donald and Nicole Meyer, and Prince Treyton Hutson, son of Tracy and Jean Hutson (and brother of 2023 Miss Ipswich Jailey Hutson).

The other princess and prince contestants were first graders: Paisley Hannasch, daughter of Ethan Hannasch and Tiffany Hannasch; Johanna McDowell, daughter of Peter and Lisa McDowell; Skyler Opsahl, daughter of Jason and Melissa Opsahl; Emma Penfield, daughter of Kevin and Jade Scherr; Madilyn Usselman, daughter of Shelby Dinger and Dustin Usselman; Kaylee Williams, daughter of Justin and Melissa Williams; Lance Batista, son of Jeremy Batista; Grant Braun, son of Russell and Lisa Braun; Amos Heinz, son of Garrett and Amy Heinz; Isaiah Kadlec, son of Nathan and Deidre Kadlec; Danny McMaster, son of Chris and Danielle McMaster; Asher Miller, son of Dustin and Ashli Miller; Oliver Miller, son of Layne and Kelsey Guthmiller.

The Princess and Prince candidates were each interviewed by the 2022 Miss Ipswich Tasia Rivera and 2022 Junior Miss Ipswich Kathryn Kilber. And they sang a holiday song.

A Junior talent entry and a Senior talent entry performed during the Saturday night Festival. Chancey and Charlee Kessler sang a duet and Emily Knoll sang a solo, accompanying herself on the piano on a song she wrote. They will compete in the South Dakota State Snow Queen Festival talent competition.

Bill Morgan was the emcee for the evening. Becky Nierman provided piano music during the Festival.
